TheAsianparent Philippines (TAP PH), the leading parenting website and the number one parenting app in the country, in partnership with the leading brands in baby care, held their very first Virtual Baby Bash, a free parenting webinar for Pinoy parents last December 10.

Parenting is not a one-size-fits-all thing. It’s a constant learning process and adjustment with your child. One doesn’t have to be a first-time parent to even feel that you’re unprepared for what lies in front of you.

Being a parent drives you to know more and get more information about whatever aspect or stage of parenthood you’re in - from giving your baby massages, to knowing which foods to give, and learning how to protect your child as he begins to explore the world around him - it helps to know the basics and understand what your child needs.

With their goal to equip every Pinoy mom and dad with the tools and information they need to navigate their parenting journey, theAsianparent Philippines, the country’s leading online publication for parents, partnered with different baby care brands for Baby Bash, a free webinar for Pinoy moms and dads talking about the basics of baby and child care.

The event was held last December 10, on TAP’s Facebook page. Hosted by Candice Venturanza, theAsianparent Philippines’ Head of Content, the webinar touched on different topics that most parents want to know about, and featured only the experts we trust when it comes to our children’s health - pediatricians.

Introducing your kids to solid food

Starting solids or the first time the baby eats is one of the most exciting milestones that parents look forward to. But sometimes, not knowing how to do it or which foods to start on can cause worry to parents.

So for the first segment, TAP, in partnership with Cerelac and Gerber, sought the help of Dr. Kristine Marie Guttierez or Doc KG, a pediatrician and the medical director of Nestle Infant Nutrition, to talk about the basics and how-tos of feeding our kids, especially during the first few months.

TAP moms Warianne Kristel Torrente and Katelyn Blair-Nair also joined in to ask popular questions about baby-led weaning and helping find the best and most nutritious foods that babies will enjoy.

At the end of the segment, Dr. KG reminded parents how important it is to eat together with their children and to try to activate the senses to get the little ones interested in food.

“Make it a fun adventure for your kids to eat, and always model positive eating habits,” she shared.

Preparing the world to re-open through vaccination

Now that the world is slowly starting to open up again, one thing that brings anxiety to most parents is the thought of putting their child out there unprepared and unprotected.

One way to protect your child and the whole family from the dangers of Covid-19 and other diseases is to make sure that your child is up to date with his vaccination schedule.

For the second segment, TAP partnered with Sanofi to discuss the basics and essential information about the different vaccines. With the help of Dr. Kristine Alba-Kiat, a member of the Philippine Pediatric Society, parents learned about the different kinds of vaccines that their child needs to be protected against serious illnesses.

The expert discussed the different effects that the Covid-19 pandemic has on our children and gave suggestions on how to protect your child as the world opens up again.

The importance of hygiene and baby massage

In partnership with Tiny Buds, TAP’s resident doctor and also an active member of the TAP community, Dr. Gellina Suderio-Maala or Doc Gel, talked to parents about the importance of teaching good hygiene to kids and the benefits of infant massage.

Doc Gel stressed that the best time to teach children about proper hygiene is while they are young, so they can learn to protect themselves from contagious diseases and also boost their self-esteem in the future.

“Teaching them good hygiene habits will definitely pay off,” said the pediatrician.

Meanwhile, on the topic of baby massage, Doc Gel encourages parents to try it as a way to nurture their baby’s development and promote bonding. She also touched on the dos and don’ts of infant massage.

“Remember to create a calm environment for you and your child,” she advised.

Self-care tips for breastfeeding moms

Caring for our children really does take a toll on our body and sanity, so it’s important to engage in self-care regularly to prevent mom burnout.

For the last segment, Mommy Kate, in partnership with Nestle Mommalove, shared some mom-approved tips on taking care of yourself while taking care of and particularly breastfeeding your little one.

Parents really learned so much from the two-hour webinar. Their most pressing questions on baby care, answered by experts. Now, they have the information that would equip them to care for their child’s health and their own well-being too.

Goodies and prizes care of their sponsors were also given away to lucky participants.
