Clark and Millie Fudolig have just proved that even in death, their love for each other knows no bounds.
It was to fulfill a promise he made to his wife
Clark Fudolig, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014, barely had 4 weeks to live when he flew to the Philippines from the US, in order to fulfill his promise to his wife, Millie, that he would give her a church wedding.
The couple met each other back in 2003, and in 2004, Millie became pregnant with their daughter Krissie. The couple had a civil wedding, but Clark promised that eventually, he would marry his wife in a church.
Soon after, Clark had to go to the US to work as an air-con technician, only coming home to visit his family every 4 years. However, the long-distance relationship only made their family even closer, where the family spent a lot of time talking to each other online, and bonding through the internet.
When Clark was diagnosed with cancer, it came as a terrible blow to the family. Millie and Krissie applied for a US visa twice, in order to be with Clark, but they were denied both times because they didn’t have ‘”strong family ties.”
He wanted to be with his family during his final moments
After finding out the he only had weeks to live, Clark made the decision to go home to the Philippines so that he could be with his family during his final moments.
Millie shares, “I tried to be strong. I did not show him I was giving up,” she recalled. “Those were the best days of our lives. We made the most of (the time we had left).”
“God has a purpose for this. God has a purpose for all of us. I learned about unconditional love. He showed me until the end what sacrifice and love really means,” she adds.
This is forever
In spite of the difficulty, Clark soldiered on because he wanted to give his beloved Millie the church wedding that she deserved. Millie added that even breathing was hard for Clark to do, and that they could have just asked the priest to visit their hotel room and perform the rites there.
However, Clark refused, because he said that it was Millie’s dream to walk down the aisle, so he pushed through with their marriage, even if it was very hard for him to do so.
Sadly, Clark was unable to make it to the reception, since he had to be immediately rushed to the Philippine Heart Center, where he passed away afterwards.
Millie shares, “I did not mourn that much because the messages inspired and motivated me. It feels good to have inspired other people, too. I also want them to know how good my husband (was), how he had fulfilled his promise.”
Their daughter, Krissie, adds, “My dad (was) so great. He made it. He did it, mom.”
To remember her beloved husband, Millie will be getting a tattoo of her husband’s name on her forearm, adding “Well, I don’t have plans of remarrying. This is forever.”
