Saving money is always a top priority for a lot of parents, especially since money is not easy to come by these days.

But of course, you still have to take care of yourself, and you definitely don’t want people to think that just because you have a family, you’ve already let yourself go.

So here are some useful tips of when to settle for cheaper skin care products, and when to splurge on the good quality ones!

Save:

Sunscreen – For the most part, most sunscreen lotions are similar, the only difference is the SPF or the sun protection factor. So if you’re trying to buy sunscreen, look instead at the SPF instead of the brand name, and you’ll save a bit of money.

Cleanser – If you don’t have sensitive skin or any allergies, then a regular cleanser would do fine. Of course, if you have sensitive skin, it’s better to shell out a bit of cash just to make sure you don’t get any sudden break outs!

Eye cream – Another product that you can save on would be eye cream. The most important thing you need in eye cream would be a moisturizing eye cream, and there are a lot of cheaper alternatives that do that.

Mask – For masks, it can depend on what exactly you’re looking for, as there are expensive masks that have really good quality ingredients, but there are also some expensive masks that have the same ingredients as the cheaper ones, so the best thing to do would be to check the ingredients, and know what exactly you need. For dry skin, aloe vera is important!

Lip balm – Any brand of lip balm with vitamin E is all you need, none of that other fancy stuff that the more expensive lip balms have.

Lotion – Like face masks, you can either save or splurge on lotions. You don’t really need to spend a lot on lotions, but the more expensive ones do work better than the less expensive ones. But all of them help keep your skin soft and moisturized.

Toner – All you need is a good quality moisturizing toner, and you’re set. Fortunately, there are a lot of good affordable toners, so you don’t have to splurge a lot of money.

Splurge:

Serum – Serums are something that you should definitely splurge on, as a good quality serum really does wonders for your skin! This is because serums are better absorbed by your skin compared to creams, so a good quality serum will go a long way.

Anti-aging cream – Anti-aging creams are also good since you use it before sleeping, which is a time when your skin regenerates.

Exfoliator – Exfoliators are also important as a good exfoliator helps slough off all of the dead skin cells from your face, leaving your face looking young and fresh!

Moisturizer – Moisturizers are very important as they keep your skin from drying out, which means that your skin will be healthier. So investing in a good quality moisturizer will really go a long way.
