2 women were arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap young children in 2 separate incidents in Parañaque and Mandaluyong City.

They thought the suspect might have a mental disorder

A 52-year-old woman from Parañaque named Marlyn Smith allegedly tried abducting a 7-year-old child inside the Redemptorist Church in Parañaque.

According to the child’s mother, Shane Osorio, the suspect went up to them, and suddenly grabbed the 7-year-old. Thankfully, the child fought against the kidnapper and quickly alerted the guards.

When the woman was taken to the precinct, her mood suddenly changed, and authorities felt that she might have a mental disorder due to her changing statements as well as her demeanor.

However, the suspect underwent a psychological evaluation and it was found that she was mentally stable. Charges of child abuse and attempted kidnapping will be filed against her.

She was beat up by a mob

In a separate incident that happened in Mandaluyong, 30-year-old Filomena Pattung was beat up by a mob after she attempted to kidnap 3 children from the gate of a public school.

According to one uncle, the suspect suddenly grabbed the children and was saying that she was the child’s mother. Like the other suspect, Pattung pretended to have a mental disorder when she was arrested. She also had other bruises and wounds because she said that she was hurting herself. She maintains that she wasn’t trying to kidnap the children.
