Manila, Philippines – Mylo Speech Buddy, a new app designed to help children with speech delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), recently had the honor of representing the Philippines at the Collision Tech Conference in Toronto, Canada. This major event brought together 500 startups from over 30 countries, offering a fantastic opportunity for Mylo Speech Buddy to share its innovative approach and explore international expansion.
Supported by StartUp Village Philippine President Carlo Calimon and the ‘SOAR’ accelerator program, as well as DMZ Toronto and the Government of Canada Trade Commission Service, Mylo Speech Buddy was one of four startups from the Philippines selected to present. Alongside REVAstaff, Remotify, and uHoo, Mylo Speech Buddy showcased its app for speech delays to potential partners and investors in Canada, aiming to build new partnerships and enter global markets.
Vincent Rocha, CEO and President of Mylo Speech Buddy, emphasized how the app supports children who are not yet speaking by helping them develop their first words. “Being chosen to represent the Philippines at the Collision Tech Conference is a wonderful chance for us to show how our app can help with speech therapy and support for autism,” Rocha said.
He also noted the significance of the conference for future growth. “This event aligns perfectly with our mission to support children with speech delays and expand our reach worldwide,” he added.
According to the 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER), Manila’s startup scene was valued at $6.4 billion at the end of 2023, reflecting the vibrant and growing innovation landscape in the region.
Mylo Speech Buddy is committed to expanding globally and adapting its content for different languages. “We are working hard to make Mylo Speech Buddy accessible to families around the world,” Rocha shared.
The app’s dedication to innovation was recently recognized when Mylo Speech Buddy won first place and a $2,500 pitch prize at the ARISE Plus Ye! Boost Accelerator Program Cohort 3, which is supported by the European Union and led by the International Trade Centre in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Competitiveness Innovation Group and QBO Innovation.
