How to appreciate your husband: Real moms give their tips

How to appreciate your husband: Real moms give their tips

Make your husband feel special by going the extra mile

It’s easy to take our partners for granted, especially with kids thrown in the mix—we often get so caught up with parenting that we completely neglect our partners. One theAsianparent Community user asked how she could better show her husband how much she appreciates him:

appreciate husband

Here’s what the theAsianparent Community community had to say.

1. Cook his favorite food

The old adage about the stomach being the way to a man’s heart still applies even when you’re in a committed relationship. Taking note of his favorite dishes and making the effort to prepare them for him says a lot more than mere words can.

“My hubby is a super dad and loves to help out with the household chores when he returns home from work,” Aruna M. wrote. “As a way of thank you I always make it a point to cook his favourite meal or dessert. I mostly bake cakes and cookies for him and the boys because they have a sweet tooth and it makes me really happy seeing them enjoying it.”

2. Surprise him

Don’t leave all the romancing to the men—though you can’t physically sweep him off his feet, you can make him feel special by going the extra mile. “How about a surprise visit to his office for a quick lunch date?” Jacq N. responded. “Any time off from the children and some date plans for just the two of you would be nice too.”

3. Let him relax, and quit nagging

While we expect men to do their own share of the housework, once they get home, they’re usually exhausted from a full day of work and would appreciate nothing more than just a few moments of peace. If you’re a working mom and there’s no going around splitting the chores when he gets home, give him a day all to himself.

“I would let him give him a weekend off,” Natasha L. wrote. “Basically an undisturbed weekend when he could hang out with his friends, sleep in, watch his movies, go for his exercise, anything he enjoys on his weekend off!”

4. Spice up your sex life

Talk about your fantasies and don’t be afraid to try new things. Buy lingerie. Leave the kids with the grandparents for a weekend and book a staycation for the two of you. Seeing you make an effort will make him feel extra special, and will encourage him to do the same.
