She didn’t have any enemies
According to witnesses, Mary Christine Balagtas, former winner of the “La Bulakenya” pageant, was surprised when she received a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates from 2 men in her home.
However, just a few minutes after receiving the gifts, the 23-year-old was suddenly shot in the head by one of the men. After the deed, the men immediately took off and fled on a motorcycle.
Sadly, she passed away while she was being taken to the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Pulilan, Bulacan.
Her friends and family are saddened at her sudden death, and her parents added that they don’t see any reason as to why someone would kill their beloved daughter, as she didn’t have any enemies.
The identities as well as the motive of the men are still unknown
According to the police, the men were most likely hired killers. Supt. Julio Lizardo, Plaridel police chief added that their investigation might focus on a man whom she previously had a relationship with. He adds that witnesses saw the men around their neighborhood right before the shooting.
In spite of this, the identities of the men, as well as their motive are currently still unknown.
When approached for interviews, her family declined, citing that hopefully reporters would respect the family’s privacy.
Christine’s classmates at the University of Regina Carmeli College have expressed their outrage online, and are calling out for justice for their slain classmate.
