According to PNP Deputy Director Fernando Mendez Jr., the body that was found in Nueva Ecija last week was not the body of Reynaldo “Kulot” De Guzman, who was last seen with slain teenager Carl Angelo Arnaiz.
The DNA samples did not match
DNA samples were taken from Kulot’s parents, Eduardo Gabriel and Lina De Guzman, and the results of the DNA showed that the body wasn’t their son’s.
This contradicts with Kulot’s father confirming that the body found in Nueva Ecija is his son.
In addition to the multiple stab wounds found on the body, it was also mutilated and partially burned, making it difficult to identify.
“Parang sinunog po siya e, lapnos ang balat po… Noong dumating ako, parang amoy gasolina po. Hindi na makita iyung mga palatandaan niya dito [sa batok] saka iyung nunal dito [sa tagiliran]. Iyung kulugo niya sa tuhod, iyun na lang ang nakita ko,” Eduardo shared.
The body might have been misidentified
PNP Deputy Director Fernando Mendez Jr. shares that Kulot’s parents might have misidentified the body since the cadaver was already bloated by the time that it was discovered. He added that they will also be going after “people trying to sabotage the investigation” as they continue the search for Kulot’s whereabouts.
According to earlier reports, Kulot was last seen with 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz, who allegedly held up a taxi and engaged in a shootout with the police. Carl was reportedly killed in the shootout, but the taxi driver later recounted that it was “scripted.”
