Grade 5 student Reynaldo de Guzman, who was last seen with 19-year-old Carl Arnaiz, has been found dead. His family confirmed that the remains found in a creek in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija on the morning of September 5 was indeed the missing 14-year-old.

“Wala silang awang pumatay ng batang nawawala. Tinadtad nila ng saksak (They mercilessly killed a missing child. They stabbed him all over his body),” de Guzman’s mother lamented to DZMM Teleradyo as she stood beside her son’s lifeless body. De Guzman’s body was found with a total of 30 stab wounds, approximately 100 kilometers from where he was last seen.

Though financially challenged, de Guzman worked part-time after school, delivering water jugs, and helping carry sacks of cement too add to his daily allowance of P30.

Both de Guzman and Arnaiz went missing on the 17th of August. According to reports, the boys, who both lived in Cainta, Rizal, went out to buy midnight snacks.

Arnaiz was found in Caloocan, with signs of possible torture and five gunshot wounds, says an autopsy report. According to authorities, the 19-year-old victim had attempted to rob a taxi. He then allegedly exchanged gunfire with the police. Though found with three packs of marijuana and shabu, his family denied any involvement in drugs.

According to Rappler, Arnaiz managed a sari-sari store in Cainta, Rizal. His mother is an OFW working in Dubai, while his father is unemployed.
