Both de Guzman and Arnaiz went missing on the 17th of August. According to reports, the boys, who both lived in Cainta, Rizal, went out to buy midnight snacks.

Arnaiz was found in Caloocan, with signs of possible torture and five gunshot wounds, says an autopsy report. According to authorities, the 19-year-old victim had attempted to rob a taxi. He then allegedly exchanged gunfire with the police. Though found with three packs of marijuana and shabu, his family denied any involvement in drugs.

According to Rappler, Arnaiz managed a sari-sari store in Cainta, Rizal. His mother is an OFW working in Dubai, while his father is unemployed.
