We came across this brother’s heartfelt plea for help, for his sister and niece, and were moved to tears. Do take some time to read it, and help in any way you can.

Mommy and baby are fighting for their lives

Brother Jun Liang says, “My sister was 6 months pregnant with my niece. On Wednesday, 19 July, after her check-up at the gynaecologist, the doctor discovered that the baby’s heartbeat was getting slower.” She was admitted into hospital immediately.

The doctors decided to perform emergency C-section, fearing for the lives of both mother and baby. Says Jun Liang, “My niece is currently still warded in KK Hospital ICU, fighting for her life.”

It was hardly the end of their worries though. Doctors found out that the mommy’s aminotransferases level was escalating, which indicated liver failure. She was transferred to Singapore General Hospital on 19 July. She has been in coma ever since.

According to Jun Liang, “We were informed by the doctor that her liver failure was due to bacterial infection, and they are currently using antibiotics to control her condition.” If there is no further improvement in condition, this mommy will apparently have to go through liver transplant, as a last resort.

Jun Liang is hopeful that kind souls will come forward to donate their liver to his sister.

The immediate concern is the lack of funds, “Due to both my sister and my niece struggling for their lives, the medical bills have been escalating. Hospital has estimated the bill to be around $300,000. As we’re from Malaysia, we do not have any medical subsidy from Government here.”

“We are pleading for your kind donations to help us, and no amount is too small to contribute.”

A Give.Asia page has been set up for this cause. This is a really sad case, and we request our kind hearted readers to help this mommy and baby in their struggle for life.

We hope and pray that they recover soon…
