That’s why it’s always a good idea to try and go on a yearly trip so that your kids always have something to look forward to each summer.
And for the more budget-oriented moms and dads out there, we compiled a list of affordable, yet memorable travel destinations for the family. These are sure to provide your child with amazing and enjoyable experiences, but won’t be too hard on your budget.
1. Subic, Zambales
With its close proximity to Manila, Subic has been a vacation destination for numerous Filipino families. And while there are a lot of exclusive resorts and beaches in Subic, such as ACEA Subic Bay, there are also some affordable options available.
A great location would be Inflatable Island Subic, where kids can run and jump around on inflatable islands in the sea. It costs just ₱499 for an hour if you book it online, and up to ₱899 for a whole day pass.
Another great destination for families is to visit Zoobic Safari. It’s also located in Subic, and is home to numerous animals that your kids will absolutely enjoy interacting with. They also have the only tiger safari in the country! Tickets cost ₱625 for adults, and ₱535 for children. Additionally, you don’t need to pay for children who are 3 feet below.
2. Tagaytay City
Tagaytay City is another travel destination that’s great for those who are on a budget. It’s a couple of hours drive from Manila, and it’s a popular destination for foodies and those looking to escape the heat of Manila.
It’s a great destination for families looking for a day trip, and there are a lot of affordable restaurants around the area. You can also drive up to Sky Ranch and enjoy their various rides, or take a spin on the “Sky Eye” which is the tallest ferris wheel in the country for only ₱150.

3. Taal, Batangas
If you’re already in Tagaytay, it’s a good idea to travel to nearby Taal, Batangas. While not a typical travel destination for most people, Taal is great for teaching your kids about history and learning more about our culture. Taal City boasts numerous old churches, as well as heritage homes, and even a camera museum!
The best thing is that most of these attractions are free, which means you’ll only have to spend money on your transportation.
4. Angono, Rizal
Angono has been dubbed the art capital of the Philippines. And for good reason! It’s home to a number of great Filipino artists, and also a number of museums and galleries that are sure to inspire your kids to be artists themselves.
For starters, you can visit the Balaw-Balaw Specialty Restaurant and Art Gallery to eat some exotic food and appreciate some great art. You could also tour the Blanco family museum which houses works of art made by the Blanco family of Angono. And one of the best places to visit in Angono is Carlos “Botong” Francisco’s gallery which houses some of his works, which you can visit for free!
5. Corregidor Island
One of the most historical locations in the country, Corregidor Island was used as a base during the second World War. It was also the last place to fall before the Japanese occupied the Philippines from 1942-1945.
In order to get to this historic island, you can take a boat ride from one of the ferries of Sun Cruises located in Esplanade Seaside, near SM MoA.
The guided tours can be a bit pricey, starting at ₱2,500 per head for the bike tour where you bring your own bikes. However, this cost covers food, a tour guide, as well as a lunch and a round trip ferry. If you and your family are history buffs, or just looking for some fun activities, then Corregidor island might be right up your alley.
6. Antipolo, Rizal
Antipolo is another great travel destination for families looking for a day trip that’s pretty close to Manila.
It’s home to a lot of great destinations, including the popular Hinulugang Taktak falls which only requires you to pay a small entrance fee. Another great destination is the Pinto art museum which costs 50 for the entrance. It boasts numerous artworks in an amazing space, and you and your family will definitely find yourselves spending a lot of time here.
There are also numerous affordable restaurants near the area, so you won’t have to spend a lot on food. You can also bring some baon if you want, and have a picnic lunch at the Hinulugang Taktak.
7. Visit Bataan’s beaches
Lastly, Bataan is one of those places that’s shaping up to be a bonafide hub for travelers. It’s widely known for its beaches, and ranks among the best budget travel destinations.
There are numerous beaches and resorts that families can visit, and they’re all reasonably priced. You can even bring your own food and have a beach picnic with your family!
Aside from the beaches, you can visit the Dambana ng Kagitingan, hike down Mt. Samat, and check out the Philippine-Japanese Friendship Tower in Bagac, Bataan.
All in all, Bataan is a pretty amazing destination, but it does require some planning if you’re going to go on a daytrip.
