Cab driver from Baguio gets amazing reward for his honesty

This amazing story of a cab driver's honesty just goes to show that it really does pay to be a nice guy.

Reggie Cabututan, a taxi driver from Baguio, just proved that a simple act of honesty really goes a long way.

It took him 30 minutes to realize his mistake

Trent Shields, an Australian businessman, felt that he was down on his luck after he accidentally left all of his baggage in a taxi cab in Baguio City. However, his luck quickly changed when honest cab driver Reggie Cabututan went back and gave back all of Trent’s belongings.

According to a Facebook post that has gone viral, Trent was in a bind after realizing that he left all of his belongings in the cab that he was riding. It took him 30 minutes to realize his mistake, and all that he remembered about the taxi was that it was a white cab.

However, just as they were about to go to the police station to file a report, Reggie Cabututan drove in with his white taxi to return  the stuff that Trent left behind. All’s well that ends well right? Well, there’s more in store for Reggie.

But wait, there’s more!

As a reward for Reggie’s good deed, he was invited to attend the Bagui City Hall’s Monday morning flag ceremony. Trent Shields, who was already on his way back to Australia, forfeited his flight and went back to Baguio to witness the ceremony. It’s so amazing how one simple act of human decency and honesty can have such an impact on a person’s life.

But wait, there’s more in store for our honest hero. Reggie was given a scholarship to a six-month coding bootcamp by the Vivixx Academy of Baguio and the Coder Factory of Australia. Upon completing the course, he is guaranteed an internship with the Coder Factory of Australia which can give him a salary of up to 1.7 million pesos yearly.

Be honest, be kind

Stories such as Reggie’s just show how important it is for us to care for others and to be more mindful about how we treat one another. A simple act of kindness directed towards other people can inspire them to be more kind to everyone else.

And as parents, a happier and kinder world is really what we need.
