How can you tell your spouse "I love you" without being too cheesy?

3 min read

Everyone’s different. Some people can be very vocal when it comes to showing their affection, while others shower their spouse with gifts to show their love. However, some people are more low-key and like keeping things short and sweet. Here are some tips if you want to tell your spouse “I love you” without being too cheesy.

Being romantic doesn’t always mean being cheesy

Showing your love for your spouse doesn’t always equate to flowers when they wake up, or breakfast in bed. It’s all about consistency, and doing little but meaningful things that make your spouse feel oh so warm and fuzzy inside.

  1. The little things matter. Simple stuff like opening the door for your wife, or letting them take a rest while you clean the dishes yourself show your concern. For wives, helping your husband choose which clothes to wear to the office, or preparing them their favorite breakfast even if there’s no occasion are things that you can do in order to tell your husband that you love him.
  2. Listen to what they say. Always listen to what your spouse says, even if it’s nothing that’s too important. Simple conversations and talking about what happened throughout the day are simple things that you can do to show that you care about what they have to say, and that you’re listening to them.
  3. Share your feelings. Telling them how you feel is a way to show that they’re someone that you depend on for emotional support, and that you need them to act as an anchor whenever you’re feeling sad, or lonely. You can also share your feelings if you’re feeling happy, or if you’re just glad that they are a part of your life.
  4. Little gifts are important. Giving your spouse little gifts, even if there’s no occasion, is a great way to show that you care. It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, but it has to be something that they’d absolutely love. It can be sweets, small trinkets, or anything that would make them smile.
  5. Surprise them with a vacation. If you and your spouse have been too busy with work, then why not surprise them with a vacation? You can go to the beach, or travel somewhere that you’ve always wanted to go. A surprise vacation would create such a wonderful and amazing memory that we’re sure the both of you will remember for the rest of your lives.
  6. Be a nice person. Being nice shows that you care about a person, and that you wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. Which is why being nice to your spouse is one of the simplest yet most meaningful ways to show your love and affection.
  7. Give them a nice warm hug. If you see your spouse feeling down and out, just give them a nice, warm hug to make them feel better. You don’t even need a reason to hug your spouse, just hug them, give them a kiss, and tell them how much you love them. It’s the most straightforward and direct way to show that you care, and that they’re very important in your life.
