She felt her world come crashing down when she saw that her son, Deacon, was being revived by paramedics.

An 18-month-old child died in a daycare center after he was allegedly strangled to death by his teething necklace.

She felt her world come crashing down

Danielle Morin went to pick her child up at the Little Impressions Daycare Center when she saw paramedics outside. She felt her world come crashing down when she saw that her son, Deacon, was being revived by the paramedics.

Her son was taken to a hospital soon after where he was put on life support. Sadly, her son wasn’t showing any signs of recovery, so she had to make the difficult decision of taking him off life support.

She also had his organs donated so that in spite of her loss, her son’s life can help other people live.

“Whether or not his beads were involved is still under investigation”

According to a post on Facebook, Danielle said, “First of all Little impressions daycare/Marriott daycare in Fontana do not know the facts and are trying to hide there [sic] lack of supervision by stating that Deacon choked on his Amber necklace.”

She then adds, “This is not the case and his medical examinations have shown another story. Deacon was strangled at daycare. Whether or not his beads were involved is still under investigation.”

According to the California Department of Social Services, Little Impressions Day Care was placed on a three year probation back in 2015. Danielle also wants to shut down the day care for their alleged lack of supervision that caused her son’s death.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Deacon.

Are amber teething necklaces safe?

Amber teething necklaces are one of the ‘fads’ that are becoming increasingly common. These necklaces are said to help relieve teething pain as well as help babies sleep better at night. However, there hasn’t been any scientific evidence to support these claims.

These necklaces also pose a choking hazard as most parents let their children sleep while wearing these necklaces. This can not only potentially strangle the child, but if the string gets broken and children try to eat the beads, it can be another choking hazard for kids.

  1. Know when to introduce solid foods – For babies, you usually need to wait until your child is 4 months of age before giving them pureed food.
  2. Avoid giving your children food that they can choke on – Don’t give your kids huge chunks of food, even if they’re already eating solid food. Try and cut them up into tiny pieces to prevent any choking hazard.
  3. Always keep an eye on your child during mealtime – Never leave your child alone during mealtime, even for a second! This is especially true for younger children.
  4. Make sure to check your child’s toys for any choking hazards – Carefully inspect your child’s toys and other objects to make sure that there aren’t any choking hazards.
  5. Make sure to keep your child away from anything that might be a choking hazard – A lot of things around the house can potentially be choking hazards for a child. Coins, marbles, small batteries, and pen caps are just a few of the things that your child can choke on. Make sure to keep these away and out of their reach.
