Avoid this crib safety mistake at all costs!

2 min read

When mom Alison Johnson set up the crib of her two babies next to each other, she just wanted them to sleep close to each other at night.

Little did she know that this seemingly innocuous act of setting up their cribs close together was actually dangerous.

In a Facebook post which has been shared fifty-thousand times, Alison said that she has a lot of friends who had the same set up, so following their footsteps, arranged a similar set up for her 18-month-old twins Libby and Caleb.

“This morning I put Caleb down for his nap,” she said. “Shortly after he started to cry. After a few minutes, I went in to check on him.

“He had climbed out of his crib and was stuck between his crib and Libby’s crib. His body fit through, but his head wouldn’t. He was using every ounce of energy he had to hold himself up by his little arms.

“If they had given out, he would’ve just been hanging there by his head.”

“What’s even more scary is that like many moms, I generally use nap time as an opportunity to shower. Had I done that today and checked on him after five minutes, he would have literally hung himself.”

This is why babyproofing is a must for parents; the house is filled with many things that could harm our children, and mots of them are things we don’t even expect.

“It’s incredibly heartbreaking to think of what the outcome could have been today,” she said. “I’m still totally shook up over it and don’t think the vision of him stuck there will ever leave my head.”

Alison hopes that by sharing her brush with tragedy, parents would be more cautious around their homes and not do the same mistake as she did.
