Nick Herbert bought his son a phone in an attempt to make communicating easier. However, he soon realized that it created a new problem: his son wouldn’t reply to his texts or calls!
He shares, “What I thought was a solution turned into a different problem. Because the phone was ‘smart’, he could play games and watch videos on it. So invariably he keeps his phone on silent so I wouldn’t know. As such when I try and contact him he rarely answers, either because he doesn’t hear the phone, or because (and I’ve finally had to admit this to myself) he may be embarrassed to speak to his Dad in front of his friends.”
That’s when Nick decided to create an app to solve his problem.
It’s called ReplyASAP
The app Nick created is called ReplyASAP and it’s designed for him to be able to send an urgent message to his son, and also lets him know if his son read his message or not.
What happens when you use ReplyASAP is that you can choose to send a message as an ASAP, and it makes a noise on the recipient’s phone to inform them that you sent them an important message. It constantly makes noise until the receiver taps on the “snooze” button or taps cancel. Once the receiver taps on either of those options, the sender receives a notification informing them that the message has been read.
The other person can also send you an ASAP message, so the app works both ways, which is perfect for kids who urgently need to send a message to their parents.
Married couples can also use the app to keep track of one another
Nick adds that the app’s use also extends to adults, as some of his friends have been using the app since a lot of them kept their phones on silent most of the time.
Married couples can also use the app to send each other important messages, or to check on each other when they’re away. Couples can use it to keep track of one another or send each other urgent messages during an emergency.
Nick adds that it’s also a good way to find your misplaced phone since even if your phone is on silent, as it rings loudly when it receives an ASAP message.
The app is currently only available for Android users. You can learn more about the app by going to this link.
