Delivering a baby is not easy task #DeliveryDiaries

Delivering a baby is not easy task #DeliveryDiaries

Many of us are excited to become parents and start our own family, but the important question is “Are we ready for responsibilities?”. This is really an important question especially to us mothers because giving birth is not easy as you think it is. We need to be prepared holistically-physically, mentally and emotionally.

In my own experience, I initially thought that I am well prepared before giving birth but when I felt the contractions, I know that I felt scared at the same time too. Many “what if’s” popped up in my mind like what if I can’t deliver my baby normally, what if I can’t do the inhale exhale and push? What will happen inside the delivery room?

Labor pains started on June 8, 2019 at 9 in the evening. It’s like the feeling of having my monthly period or menstruation—lower abdominal, pelvic and back pain. I thought that this is just normal but after a couple of hours, I started to see blood in my underwear. During my last visit with my Midwife, she told me that anytime I am experiencing pain and constant contractions, I can come to the clinic right away. But since the pain just comes and goes and yet I think is still tolerable, I just went to sleep.

June 9 at 7 in the morning, my tummy started to hurt a lot and the contractions are constant. I thought that this is the perfect time to deliver so we rushed in my midwife’s clinic. Based on the internal exam, my cervix did not dilate yet so I started to walk as much as I can. The contractions became stronger, closer together and regular. My legs started to cramp and I am feeling that my water can break anytime.

Around 2-3 in the afternoon, I am laying on the bed inside the room already. They put IV fluid and started the observation. My bag of water is still intact. They gave medications to help giving birth. Right after the last time they check my cervix, my bag of water just broke but still my baby doesn’t want to go out. There is an instance that I’m talked to my tummy and whispering to my baby to help mommy get her out.

Time goes slowly, the contractions are getting stronger and the words that I utter mostly are “LORD,YOUR WILL BE DONE.” I also made myself ready that if ever I can’t do it via normal delivery then C-section would be fine.

Family and love ones came one by one to check me inside the room and prayed that I can go through this.

I told them that I cannot manage the pain anymore. Miraculously, around 5:30 in the afternoon the midwife assistant told me that I can go to the delivery room. This is the time that I will do the INHALE, EXHALE AND PUSH! I don’t remember how many times I did it. My midwife and her assistant started praying nonstop and I joined. This helped me a lot! It took 2 1/2 hours of pushing before they saw the baby’s head. We are almost near at the decision in doing C-Section if we can’t do it but the last push was already a success!

You know why my labor lasted longer than the normal? It is because my baby weighted 4.2kilos or 9.2 pounds! 😂 My midwife said that if I will be pregnant again, I need to be really strict on my diet. To tell you honestly , in the last few months of my pregnancy of I ate a lot. 🤣😂

As I’ve shared my story, I hope that it gave you learning and realization that giving birth is not an easy task but all the sacrifices are worth it in the end especially when you see your little ones.

Hope you love my story!
