OFW bares domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband

An OFW in Abu Dhabi claims her Jordanian husband is a sadist who’s been beating her for years. Learn more about Mary Ann’s claims, below.

In an interview with the Khaleej Times, the 30-year-old OFW revealed more about her ordeal.

“This has been going on for many years. He beats me up black and blue without any mercy. I cannot take it anymore,” she said in the interview, adding that all she wants right now is a divorce.

“He should also pay for my daughter’s maintenance,” she went on, adding further details about the beatings she endured from her “sadistic” husband.. “I took to social media so that the world knows what he is doing to me.”

Though Mary Ann has filed for divorce at the Abu Dhabi Family Court, her husband continues to maintain his innocence.

“It is not true. She hurts herself every time and goes to the court to file case against me,” he contested, adding that he is willing to grant her a divorce.

However, he threatened to pursue legal action against her is she persists on “slandering” him on social media.

Taking to social media, Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Mary Ann Batulanon revealed the abusive treatment she was subjected to while she was living with her Jordanian husband in Abu Dhabi.

“I suffer for so many years. Please, Mahmoud Abuhalawa, divorce me,” Mary Ann pleaded on Linkedin and Instagram.

According to a previous report on Rappler, Domestic Violence takes on different forms, all of which need to be addressed with support and care.

  • Physical: bodily injuries and harm
  • Sexual: rape, sexual harassment, coerced participation sexual activities, demeaning verbal sexual abuse
  • Psychological: harassment, humiliation, verbal abuse, intimidation, stalking
  • Economic: destruction of property, deprivation of resources or financial independence, hindering work opportunities, etc.
