Eden Cheese Partners with Box-Office Director Dan Villegas for ‘Cheese the One’

Eden Cheese Partners with Box-Office Director Dan Villegas for ‘Cheese the One’

What happens when a Filipino family favorite moves from the dinner table to your mobile screen?

It becomes the kind of story Filipinos know by heart—served with drama, family tension, and, of course, a little extra “cheese.”

Eden Cheese proudly brings this to life through original storytelling with its first-ever vertical drama series, Cheese the One, which recently held an exclusive special preview at Cinema 76 last May 7, 2026.

The heritage brand has partnered with box-office hitmaker Dan Villegas to reimagine the classic Filipino telenovela for today’s mobile-first audience, delivering a bite-sized yet emotionally rich viewing experience inspired by the dramatic storytelling generations of Filipinos have grown up with.

Members of the media and content creators gathered for a first look at the series, which officially premiered on May 10 across Eden Cheese’s official digital platforms.

A Story of Love, Family, and Second Chances—Served at the Dinner Table

At the heart of the series is a “hugot”-filled family drama that many Filipinos know all too well: the struggle of a young wife, played by Netty Inojales, trying to win the approval of her formidable mother-in-law, played by Connie Cuneta, while her husband, played by Marc Acueza, navigates the delicate balance of keeping his new family together.

As tensions quietly simmer beneath every shared meal, these questions linger: Will she ever truly be accepted? And what will it take to finally turn the tension at the dinner table into understanding?

“What excited me about this project was the challenge of telling a very Filipino story in a vertical, mobile-first format without losing emotional depth,” said Director Dan Villegas.

“With Cheese the One, we’re telling a story that feels raw and real, but optimized for how we consume content today: quick, vertical, and deeply personal.”

Eden: Creamier, Milkier, and Made for Even Better Moments

The digital series also serves as the launchpad for the new and improved Eden Cheese.

For generations, Eden has been a staple at the Filipino dining table—part of everyday meals, baon, merienda, family gatherings, and recipes passed from one household to another. As Filipino families continue to evolve, so do the ways they discover recipes, enjoy stories, and connect over food.

That is why Eden is keeping in step with the times in two meaningful ways: through a new and improved recipe that is creamier, milkier, made with real milk, and suited for both palaman and pang-luto; and through a modern content format that reflects how Filipinos now watch, discover, and share stories, especially through vertical shorts.

“Eden has always been part of the Filipino dining table, and with Cheese the One, we wanted to bring that same presence into the way families experience stories today,” said Adrian Manlapig, Marketing Head for Mondelez International Philippines. “As the story unfolds, Eden becomes part of those familiar moments—turning simple dishes into something more special and helping create warmth around the table.”

With its innovative format and heartfelt storytelling, Cheese the One underscores Eden’s enduring place in Filipino homes while embracing how modern stories, modern families, and Eden itself continue to evolve.

“As we introduce our new and improved formula, we’re also embracing new ways to stay relevant to Filipino families,” said Manlapig. “The story of Cheese the One is ‘cheesy’ in the best way—it has the drama, and the family moments Filipinos love—but it also reflects the real role Eden plays in the kitchen and around the table.

With Eden now made creamier and milkier, the story of Leah shows simple dishes can become more special, and how those meals can help bring people closer. At the same time, we’re telling this in a format that is bite-sized, mobile-first, and made for the way people watch and share content today.”

Cheese The One premiered May 10 on Eden Cheese’s Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube pages—don’t miss it.
