Before you buy a faucet water filter or a water filter system device please read this article.

In Singapore we drink water from a tap. It’s generally safe as it starts from a water treatment plant that purifies the water to make it safe for human consumption.

However, the “purified” water then runs through pipes in order to arrive at our homes are reserved in tanks for days at a time before we use it, which may cause the growth of bacteria and parasites.

Chlorine is then introduced into the water to sterilize it. While Chlorine is not harmful in small quantities, it may have side effects in the long run.

This is where water filter systems come in handy. They cart away the impurities like chlorine, copper, lead, mercury, and many other impurities.

A faucet water filter system is very handy for those at home to drink more water without resorting to the expense and inconvenience of bottled water or who don’t want break their bank by buying an under the sink filtration system .

In a nutshell a faucet water filter is simply water purification systems that is designed to be installed into most standard sized kitchen faucets. While the level of filtration varies from system to system, most faucet water filters will adequately filter out contaminants in your water. Do note however that your faucet needs to be have grooves in order to attach the water system to it. Not all tap faucets come with grooves. So before you in invest in a system, check out what type of water faucet you have!

To keep a faucet water filter operating at maximum efficiency it is important to change the filter cartridges as needed. While most filtration systems have a gauge that will indicate exactly when a filter cartridge needs to replaced, expect to change the filter on your faucet water filter every three months or so.

Most faucet water filters also have an on and off switch. This allows you to purify the water you consume but not necessarily the water with which you wash your dishes. This is a nice feature, as it will save you wear and tear on your filter cartridges.
