According to a live facebook video, fire broke out near the St. Stephen’s campus, a high school located beside Chiang Kai Shek in St. Cruz, Manila. In the first hour it was shared, the video garnered 18,0000 views.
According to some netizens, the fire was caused by informal settlers. Fire trucks and emergency rescue were apparently unable to contain the fire due to road blockages. As of this writing, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
However, the extent of the damage has yet to be determined.
St. Stephen’s school is the first Christian Chinese school in Luzon. It was established in 1917. In their official Facebook page, the school cancelled all classes on Friday, February 24 to make way for a school-wide cleaning.
The administration also expressed their gratitude that everyone is safe.
In response, Chiang Kai Shek has suspended classes for tomorrow.
