Ms. South Africa Top 5 Finalist Q & A

Are leaders of today doing enough to protect future generations from climate change? If not, what more should they be doing?

Answer: I think that the future leaders could do a little bit more. However, I feel like we, as individuals ourselves, could also play a part in making the climate the way it should be in the future. Children are protesting for the climate, and I feel like adults should join as well, and corporations should join as well. The government should take it seriously. I mean, 6th grade have been learning that the climate is deteroriating and the planet is dying. It is up to us to keep our planet safe. Thank you.

Miss South Africa final statement

“What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?”

Answer: I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don’t want to but because of what society has labelled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity and that is what we should be teaching these young girls, to take up space, nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself, thank you.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray final message

“I’ve always believe that as women, we have the power to redefine our generation. When we raise our voices together, the words “women power” become more than just a phrase – they become a movement. I wanted my reign to be a year with purpose. From advocating for quality education for all to raising awareness for HIV/AIDs, I’ve strived to use my voice for good.

Thank you to mom and dad for always believing in me, to Paula and Esther for your mentorship, the Miss Universe organization, and to team Catriona, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And to my beloved Philippines, isang [karangalan] po ito. You endlessly inspire me and give me hope. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Above all, thank you God. I lift everything up to glorify and honor you.

As I close this chapter, I do so with a grateful heart. To everyone with a dream, know that your dreams are valid, and on your path you are never denied, and only redirected.”
