In a recent interview with DZMM, the victim’s mother and former mayor of Lemery, Batangas, Cherry Alilio, shared that her daughter was threatened to join the sorority by one of her classmates.
“In ka na ha, drop or die ito”
According to her statement, her daughter, Coleen, has repeatedly declined one of her classmate’s frequent invitations to join the Tau Gamma Sigma sorority in the Lyceum of the Philippines in Manila.
The next day, she was asked to go join in their initiation ceremony, where she was hazed for a number of hours, leaving her legs severely bruised and with candle burns on her back.

She might suffer from kidney damage
According to her mother, Coleen was insistent that she didn’t join the sorority willingly. She said that members of the organization took the phones of the initiates and deleted all text messages related to the sorority. However, Coleen’s call history shows a number of rejected and missed calls which she said was because she was trying to avoid her classmate.
Her mother adds that her daughter might have been scared because of the threats, especially since she grew up in the province and she only moved to Manila recently to study in the University.
Her daughter is still confined in the hospital, and will be observed since doctors are worried that she might suffer from kidney damage. She will also be filing a case against the students involved, and they will be coordinating with the Lyceum of the Philippines University to find those who were responsible for her daughter’s injuries.
