Let bygones be bygones. Heart Evangelista and her mother, Cecile Ongpauco, have truly moved on from their bitter feud over the former’s romance with Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
In fact, the mother-daughter duo can now joke about the fact that Cecile was absent during her daughter’s wedding with the Senator.
“Better late than never. Am I too late?,” quipped Cecile in a video as Heart showed her where she and Chiz got married in 2015.
“Yeah, you are,” Heart giggled.

Perhaps making up for lost time, Heart made sure to make her mom’s birthday this year extra special with a trip to the luxurious island getaway.

Heart toured her mother around the island, including a special stop at the Balesin Club House beach front–the very same spot where Heart and Chiz exchanged vows.

“Where’s the wedding? Am I too early?,” Cecile again joked.
“No, you’re a year and a half late,” her beautiful daughter said with a laugh.

Heart and Cecile were joined by Chiz on the trip–further proof that all is well between the couple and Heart’s family. Missing in action, however, was Heart’s father, Rey Ongpauco.
“Dad was too scared to fly…Welcome to paradise momma,” Heart captioned a photo of the trio as they arrived in Balesin’s hangar.

Both of Heart’s parents were absent during the wedding ceremony following a bitter and public feud over their disapproval of Heart’s relationship with Chiz.
On the wedding day, however, Rey sent his daughter a heartfelt letter, where he expressed his sadness over not walking her down the aisle. He also wished her happiness and promised he would “knock on the door” as soon as Chiz proves his love for Heart.
“Alam mo anak, gustong gusto kitang ihatid sa altar. (My child, I so want to walk you down the aisle)…But a lot of things has happened that hinder us from going,” Rey wrote in his letter.
Rey also asked Chiz to take care of Heart and love her unconditionally.
“This is my promise — when the day comes that I see both of you truly happy, when I see Chiz loving you the way you deserve to be loved, I will come knocking at your door,” he said.
Closing the letter, he said, “I may not be there right now but I am thinking of you, Heart.”
