Connectivity plays a huge part in what makes us—well, us. And with the help of technology, pursuing things that make us feel alive has never been more achievable. With our families and careers to think about, it’s paramount to invest in things worth our while.

We learn with our smartphones, laptops, and tablets—the world can be held right in the palms of our hands, making it easy to learn, play, laugh, and stay connected. This rings even more true with the right internet provider, such as Globe At Home.

Globe At Home is the perfect household tool for maximum, high-speed connectivity, especially given the fast-paced development of the digital world. The world is changing, so why not choose to change it with the right tool by your side? And while we move on to greater things, why not pursue things that help our families do more and be more?

But, really, what makes Globe the preferred choice for many parents and households out there? We wanted to dig deeper and understand better, so we decided to interview a mother, a content creator, and an empowered Filipina—all rolled into one: Bianca Gonzalez.

Bianca’s Journey with Globe At Home

We were lucky enough to have a chat with Bianca via Zoom, where we talked about her family, career, and above all, the importance of having a reliable partner that helps enable her family's digital lifestyle at home. Here’s what went on:

Q: How important is it to have quality time with your family?

Bianca: I think for any parent who’s still doing WFH or hybrid na, ang isang super big realization is that quality time doesn’t necessarily mean na you’re doing anything grand together. Even just being together is already quality.

It’s sneaking in those 15 minutes na pwede kong patulugin yung mga anak ko and then go back to writing my article or they’re having a nap now, I’m gonna finish all my work now online and then as soon as they wake up, yun na. I can play with them whatever games they want to play or books they want to read. Again, it doesn’t have to be grand, it's the everyday little moments i-cherish natin at a time like this.

Q: As a mother, how do you help your kids stay connected in school despite the absence of  face-to-face classes?

Bianca: When we finally moved here to the house, which is where we have Globe At Home GFiber Unli, the connection is super okay. My six-year-old natuto na sila to do Google Chat, which [was] super new to me kasi parang at that age may kachat na siya—oh my god [laughs]. Pero, it’s also for if they have questions for Teacher, [as] they can easily ask the teacher through Google chat. Pero nalaman ko my daughter nagme-message sya ng emojis sa mga classmates nya. Nakakatuwa na every time she opens her tablet, she checks that agad. So dahil ang bilis ng internet, pasok lahat ng messages and then when she checks the Google Chat, nandun na.

Nakakatuwa nga kasi because again when your connection is so good and it’s fast -speed internet, walang—have you experienced yung you’re clicking and ang tagal—walang lag time na ganon. So my daughter, even when she’s doing her school work, ang bilis.

Naeengganyo rin siya kasi parang there’s so much to do, she’s learning, she’s chatting with her friends, she can finish the work plan super easy.

Q: How does having a strong, reliable connection help you as a content creator of Paano Ba ‘To and as a mother of two?

Bianca: The lockdown happened mid-March 2020. For some reason, my initial thought was people will sort of know how it feels like to be in Big Brother’s house, not being able to leave.

And I knew that I wanted to do an episode with a psychologist to explain what happens to people when we’re only in one space. So obviously when this happened, I couldn’t go to the psychologist to interview them. So again, because of the reliable  connection and fast  speed internet, I was able to do interviews right away. They were happy to share din their expertise.

Now more than ever in this lockdown even if restrictions have eased, for all the episodes for the video and for the podcast, I also do them remotely so definitely the connection was still there despite not being physically together.

Q: With your husband calling it a career in the PBA, how does he remain connected with his peers and with the game?

Bianca: He’s still so into basketball like when the finals aired, even NBA Draft, updated pa rin sya sa lahat ng yan. So again, all of that is through our streaming devices. Digital world pa rin.

When he retired from basketball, that’s when he already started painting. So from sports, he’s now learning the world of visual arts. Actually yun ang isa sa mga hilig naman pagbondingan din now. We look for videos, documentaries, masterclass na related to arts, either styles, techniques kasi he’ll watch. That’s something on his bucket list, gusto niya mag-aral ng art.

Q: How do you ensure that you remain a strong, empowered Filipina in the digital sphere?

Bianca: What I’ve learned during this lockdown na our exposure to everything is mostly talaga on our screens. Kasi dati, we’ll either attend events, or go to physical meetings. Now, kasi it’s all digital, it’s all online. It’s so important to curate what goes in [...] the quality of your day can drastically change if you spend, let’s say 2 hours scrolling on Twitter and see all the snarky comments. Or, you can choose to bookmark or have a folder of bookmarked articles or videos na medyo nakaka-enrich ng buhay. The quality of your mood, [and] the quality of your day will be so different.

I’m not saying to totally say goodbye to social media, especially with the work that we do, it’s really [about] a healthy balance. Have your breaks and really try to set boundaries as much as you can in terms of the things you can consume. It really heavily affects us as a person. Ultimately, mas importante naman talaga tayo in the real world rather than tayo in the online world.

Q: How does having a fast and reliable internet provider enable you to achieve greater things at  home?

Bianca: A lot! A question I get a lot is like, how can I do everything that I do in a day. Number one answer would be, of course, a support system. My husband and our ates here at home who help me take care of the home. But, I am 100% sure that the only reason I can go from hosting a live show, to doing an interview, to editing virtually with my editor, to updating my social media accounts, to attending a meeting, to granting this interview—the only reason I can go through it seamlessly, day in day out, is because of a fast and reliable connection—because of Globe At Home Fiber! It’s hard enough to do our work remotely, connecting a lot of devices at home, but a very good  connection makes it easier .

Itong GFiber Unli, it’s the newest kind. Kumbaga, it’s the best kind, it’s the fastest kind. So, people might think na, “Oh, baka mas mahal”. With actually around the same range price nung plans, you can already upgrade to GFiber. For me, it’s better to upgrade now, or to switch to GFiber now, kasi that’s really the technology going into the future.
