With the holidays just around the corner, get-togethers are abound! If you are hosting one this season, you must be poring over your menu and grocery list again and again, making sure you have all you need for a wonderful spread. But wouldn’t it be nice if they had a cute spread, too?

Children’s charcuterie board

One thing you can do to spruce up the tablescape is by having a children’s charcuterie board!

You’ve seen it all over your Instagram feed whenever there’s a special occasion—wooden planks filled with cold cuts, figs, and cheese. But this time, to make it fun for the little ones, you can fill it up with their favourite treats!

And the best part of it is: it’s so easy to make and you can let your kids join in on making one!

  • tray or wooden chopping board
  • Nissin Happy Snackin’ Tub
  • Nissin Stick Wafer Tub
  • fruits (grapes, orange slices, dried mangoes, raisins)
  • cheese (cut into cubes or bite-size pieces)
  • popcorn
  • chocolate
  • chips and dip
  • cupcake liners, small cups

Step 1: Prep the tray or board

The charcuterie board can actually be anything that can serve as a base for your food. You can use a serving tray or a piece of wood.

Tip: If you are using a wooden chopping board, make sure you wash it thoroughly and if it’s been used on meat before, better to put a cling wrap on it to make sure that it’s free from raw-food borne bacteria.

Step 2: Remove the snacks from their packaging

The idea of a charcuterie board is for the guests to snack on it freely. Since we have kiddie guests, make sure to remove the snacks on the board from its original packaging. We don’t want our tots having a hard time opening packs!

Tips:

  • Don’t throw out the tubs! Print out coloring papers and use the Nissin Stick wafer tub as a crayon holder.
  • Got leftover snacks from the board? Put them in brown paper bags that can serve as loot bags that your guests can take home!

Step 3: Put wet and small snacks in cupcake liners

Identify ingredients that are too small and might fall or roll off the board—like peanuts, button-shaped chocolates or trail mix—and place them in cupcake liners or small cups.

You can also put the Nissin Stick Wafer in cups, one for the chocolate flavor and another for the strawberry flavor. It can even serve as a centerpiece for your board!

If you are serving dips, it’s best to put these on cups as well.

Step 4: Arranging the snacks on the board

There are several ways to go about this. You can create a pattern or character with the different shapes of the snacks. You can arrange it by snack types, from Nissin Wafer sticks to fruits.

But the easiest way is to build from the outside going in:

  • Place the filled cups and cupcake liners on the corners and in the middle of the board. It is important that these are evenly spread out.
  • Arrange each variant of the Nissin biscuit from the Happy Snackin Tub (Nissin BreadStix, Nissin Eggnog, Nissin Butter Coconut, and Nissin Classic Choco Wafer) beside the cups.
  • To add pops of color to your board, make sure to put the fruits and cheeses near the biscuits
  • Now that your board looks filled and busy, fill in the gaps with popcorn, chocolates and chips!

Remember, your children’s charcuterie board does not need to be fancy nor expensive! It’s only as expensive as your ingredients. And with the Nissin Happy Snackin’ Tub and the Nissin Stick Wafer Tub, you have yummy, easy, and affordable snacks to spruce up your holiday spread.
