Immunity for All Kids: Join Ceelin® in giving back through Caritas Philippines

Immunity for All Kids: Join Ceelin® in giving back through Caritas Philippines

Did you know that undernutrition is affecting kids in the Philippines at a very alarming rate?

Undernutrition is defined as an “insufficient intake of energy and nutrients to meet an individual’s needs to maintain good health.” According to findings from The World Bank published in 2021, micronutrient undernutrition affects 38% of Filipino infants 6 to 11 months old and 26% of Filipino children who are 12 to 23 months old (roughly 1 to 2 years old).

What Causes Micronutrient Undernutrition?

Although it’s true that intake of unhealthy or inappropriate food can be a factor for micronutrient undernutrition in Filipino kids, it’s important to understand why this happens.

Statistics from 2021 showed that an estimated 26.14 million Filipinos live below the poverty line. Many are unable to afford nutrient-dense food choices, and settle for options that aren’t as healthy but can make them feel full.

A lot of Filipino families also lack access to quality healthcare. For some families, vitamins and medicines that are needed to support a growing child’s needs can be costly. As a result, these essential items aren’t heavily prioritized, resulting in a negative domino effect wherein kids become at risk for undernutrition, and prone to sickness.

As more and more kids are venturing outdoors, and with the Department of Education (DepED) beginning to allow face-to-face classes in some schools, it’s crucial that all kids get the nourishment they need especially to help support their immunity so that they are not sickly.

Immunity for All? It Can Be Possible With Ceelin®

Kids from all walks of life deserve to grow healthy and sickness-free. With this goal in mind, Ceelin® and Ceelin® Plus launched an advocacy campaign – Pangakong Proteksyon: Immunity for All Kids.

Ceelin® believes that every child deserves fully loaded immunity. Under this campaign, Ceelin® has this initiative wherein products are distributed to underprivileged kids so they have the opportunity to have a stronger immune system and avoid illnesses.

With this tie-up, Ceelin® and Caritas Philippines can help Filipino kids become stronger, healthier, and ultimately deliver on its promise of providing Immunity for All Kids.

Ceelin®’s Pangakong Proteksyon campaign has now been able to reach kids across the Philippines. Determined to provide kids with the immunity they deserve, Ceelin® products have been distributed within the Caritas network, including communities in far-flung areas like Kidapawan, Surigao, and Jolo.
