In latest Jackie Chan news, the Hong Kong superstar shared some shocking and scandalous revelations from his new book, Never Grow Up.
The book, which Jackie first wrote in Chinese with his friend Zhu Mo in 2015, has now been translated into English by Singaporean author, Jeremy Tiang.
Jackie Chan reveals a lesser known, darker side of him in this memoir. He opens up about his weaknesses as a husband and father, and his early struggles with alcohol, gambling and prostitutes.
Jackie Chan news: Cheating on his wife and abusing his toddler son
In the book, Chan admits to cheating on his wife, Joan Lin.
For the info, Chan has a 36-year-old son, Jaycee, with Lin, and a 19-year-old daughter, Etta Ng, from his affair with beauty queen Elaine Ng Yi Lei.
Here are some revelations that reveal a different side of Jackie Chan:
Trysts with prostitutes
Jackie talks about his early years in showbiz, when success and money had started going to his head.
“Even though I made next to nothing, I spent all my wages on drinking, gambling, and girls. We all did,” he says.
He also reveals that he frequently visited a prostitute known as ‘Number Nine’, who was, “beautiful, with a sweet personality”.
Abused his toddler
In 1982, Jackie Chan married Joan Lin, a Taiwanese actress. Their son, singer and actor Jaycee Chan, was born that same year.
In the book, Chan shares that all was not well with his family life. And that, he had anger management issues, and once hit his little son, Jaycee, and threw him badly on to the sofa.
It happened after he had had a bad argument with his wife. Jaycee, then a toddler, apparently came running up to him, snatched the keys from his hand, and threw them on the floor.
“When I bent down to pick them up, he kicked my hand away! I was furious.”
“I picked him up with one hand and flung him across the room, and he crashed into the sofa”, he admits.
Cheated on his wife
Chan also has a daughter, Etta Ng, from his extra-marital relationship with Elaine Ng Yi-Lei, former Hong Kong beauty queen, and winner of Miss Asia 1990.
He confesses to this affair in the book, “In 1999, I made a serious mistake.”
“When the news broke about an affair I’d had that resulted in a child, the media frenzy was like a bomb going off. I wanted to phone Joan but I didn’t know what to say. I wouldn’t be able to explain this.”
However, it has been reported that Chan doesn’t discuss his relationship to Etta in the book. Etta was in the news recently when she married her girlfriend, Canadian influencer Andi Autumn.
The father and daughter have always had a troubled relationship. In a 2015 interview, Etta had revealed that she and Chan never really had a father-daughter relationship. She even referred to him as “just a stranger”.
Etta apparently told the Express about Chan, “He never existed in my life. I will never regard him as a father.”
“And I would not say that he is my dad…I would say, ‘Oh, Jackie Chan, an actor.’”
‘Never Grow Up’ hits stores on 4 December 2018.
