On June 18, a day after Father’s day, she posted a loving tribute to her dad. It was captioned with a story about one of the times Jose proved himself to be one of the coolest dads in the world.

“I remember this one time back in college when I had personal problems and I was being particularly difficult. I didn’t attend all my classes one day, even missed an exam, and you caught me,” she wrote.

Myki, who’s now a licensed doctor, was having personal problems one time during college, so she skipped school one day and missed an exam. Her dad caught her, but instead of getting mad, he was very calm as he picked up his daughter off campus. He even brought her to an ice cream place near De La Salle University, where Myki was majoring in Psychology.

“Surprisingly, you didn’t get mad. You were unusually calm…Eventually I cried so hard. I couldn’t stop. You just hugged me. We stayed like that for a long while. No words were needed. You understood me. You always stood by my side. Your mere presence was enough to get me through. I yearn for it daily. I miss you, daddy. Please keep yourself healthy and happy. Happy father’s day!”

Dr. Myki’s story tells us how loving Jose Manalo is as a father. Contrary to his chatty on-cam personality, this loving dad of five knows the importance of silence – that talking is not always the answer. As a parent, he knows how to respect his daughter’s feelings by giving her space and not adding to her problems and overwhelming emotions.
