Kate Middleton, whose great-grandmother worked as a nurse in World War I, showed her love for the profession in her most recent public appearance. In attendance was Kate Middleton’s midwife, who assisted during the birth of princess Charlotte and prince George.
During a visit to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG), of which the soon-to-be mom-of-three is the new patron, the royal mom learned more about their efforts to improve maternal and newborn health worldwide.
Kate Middleton’s midwife recalls their reunion fondly
The royal visit turned out be an emotional reunion. While there, Kate caught up with Jacqui Dunkley-Bent, a midwife who assisted during the birth of Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
The two shared a sweet embrace and got to chat for a bit. Yahoo reports that Dunkley-Bent was overjoyed to see Kate.
“It was a surprise and an absolute pleasure to be reunited with Kate again today,” Kate Middleton’s midwife Dunkley-Bent tells Yahoo. “Supporting families at the birth of their baby — including future kings and queens — is hugely rewarding and we’re very grateful to have the Duchess of Cambridge’s support for the nursing profession.”
It appears the Duchess felt the same way. Before she left, she told the organization’s president Professor Lesley Regan, “It was so great to see Jacqui as well.”
Due to give birth in April, the royal mom joked that husband Prince William was still “in denial”
Kate is well into her third trimester, and was glowing in a blue Jenny Packham coat and dress.
She also marked the launch of the Nursing Now Campaign by delivering a speech and joining a roundtable discussion.
“This campaign means a lot to me personally. My great-grandmother and grandmother were both volunteer nurses,” she said during her speech, adding how she finds the dedication and professionalism of nurses to be awe-inspiring.
She continues, “I would like to congratulate and thank all nurses everywhere on what you achieve on a daily basis. The difference you make should not go unrecognized.”
She also took time to visit the nurse-led Evelina London Children’s hospital. There, she met the family of one of the patients.
PEOPLE Royals reports that the Duchess joked that William is in denial that baby number three is on the way. This isn’t the first time the Duke showed off his cheeky side! He recently quipped that having twins would test his ‘mental health.’
Many have speculated that the beloved royal couple is expecting twins, but there has been no confirmation as of this writing.
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see when the royal baby (or babies) finally arrive!
