Last weekend, Katie Holmes took some time away from glamorous events to focus on her family and celebrate the birthday of her mother, Kathleen Stothers-Holmes. Holmes, 37, and her family threw a surprise party for their mother, and judging from the photos, the evening was full of “#love” and “#gratitude”.
The actress shared photos of herself snuggling with her 10-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, captioning them with the hashtags #gratitude #love #blessed and #family.
The mother-daughter duo usually keep a low profile, so to get a glimpse into these precious moments is a huge deal.

Since separating from Tom Cruise in 2012, Holmes has been focusing much of her energies on motherhood.

Like many moms, Holmes has admitted to struggling with parenthood, especially now that she is a single parent. "Am I enough? Am I doing enough? Have I seen her enough?" she told People in 2014. "Guess what? You're not enough, she hasn't seen you enough, you're horrible: That's how it can feel sometimes."
"You do the best you can," she continued. "Some days you feel really good about yourself and some days you don't."
