Kindness can come in unexpected ways and from those we least expect it.

When Sarah Cuvin booked an Uber in Kamuning, Quezon City, she wasn’t expecting to meet Andrew, a generous man who would help her family in a time of need. While on board, Sarah and her twin sister called their brother Joseph to get more information about sister-in-law Irish who needed a blood transfusion after experiencing complications during a C-section birth. She was at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and was in need of donors to replace the blood she had used during the transfusion.

“We were on speakerphone at the time so everyone could hear the conversation, including kuya Andrew. Then out of the blue, he offered to donate blood for our sister-in-law and we were just shocked,” recounts Sarah in an interview with theAsianparent Philippines.

According to Sarah, Andrew donated a bag of blood.

“No questions asked volunteer si Kuya Andrew and all he wanted in exchange was his payment for the Uber ride!” wrote Sarah in a Facebook post, which has now been shared hundreds of times on Facebook. “Isa ka pong hulog ng langit! Salamat po kasi hindi po kayo nag-atubiling tumulong sa pamilya namin kahit hindi po namin kayo kakilala. Sana pagpalain po kayo ng Panginoon!”

“There is still hope for us to help others…”

A few days after Sarah’s facebook post, her sister-in-law Irish and her baby were sent home. “Irish and her baby are doing well. She’s now recovering from the C-section she had,” Sarah told the Asianparent Philippines.

“Kuya Andrew sent me a message a few days after the story was shared,” she continued. “He said he saw the story from one of his friends and thanked me for sharing our Uber experience.”

Aside from paying tribute to kuya Andrew, Sarah hopes to show that there are still truly good people in the world.

“There is still hope for us to help others,” she says. “And there are good people out there who would help others in their time of need and they come to you in the most unexpected way possible.”
