Never leave your phone charging overnight, it might kill you!

Never leave your phone charging overnight, it might kill you!

A report revealed that Mr Kruger had suffered 64 per cent burns, including first degree burns to his face and upper chest. Soot was also found in his larynx and trachea.

Are you the kind of person who sleeps with their phone tucked under their pillow? If you are, then maybe it is time to rethink that lifestyle habit. Other than the many research done which links mobile phone radiation and cancer, here’s another reason to leave your phone out of the bedroom.

A man died in a fire caused by an iPhone he had left charging overnight.

Bed-bound Marek Kruger, 53, who suffered from a brain tumor, died from smoke inhalation at his home in Reading.

The inquest said that he often kept his phone by his side.

Jonathan Fuguet from Bureau Veritas Laboratories, the company hired by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service to investigate the fire said that the iPhone battery overheated as it was placed on the bed clothes, and the heat emitted while charging was unable to spread.

“It is like putting it into a fire but much slower,” he said.

A report revealed that Mr Kruger had suffered 64 per cent burns, including first degree burns to his face and upper chest. Soot was also found in his larynx and trachea.

Disconnected

Mobile phones and modern technology in general make our lives so much easier, better—there’s no doubt about that. But it’s also a good idea to disconnect from the internet from time to time.

Because then you’ll have more time to do things, see things. You will have more time to spend with your family. You will have more time thinking, reading, exercising, doing things around the house.

Staying disconnected from the internet will help you think more clearly, help you against distractions, help your mind focus.

Of course staying away from the digital world is impossible. Everything is digital now, or at least soon everything will be. But there are certain things we can do for it not to take over our lives.

Set a limit to how often you and your family, especially your children, spend time on the internet. This includes time spent on their tablets and games consoles. Instead of reading e-books, read physical books with actual pages you can flip through. Arrange a weekly, or better yet, daily, activities that you and the whole family can participate.

Human interaction after all is one of the most important things in life.
