He raped an 11-year-old neighbor, and molested a 16-year-old girl

A 59-year-old man was recently arrested by authorities after it was reported that he was responsible for raping 2 minors in Santa Cruz, Manila.

The suspect, Victorino Catalig, was a resident of Sulu St. in Santa Cruz, Manila. He was reported as the suspect for 2 rape cases in the area.

He allegedly raped an 11-year-old neighbor, and molested a 16-year-old girl in the area according to CIDG deputy chief Senior Inspector Reynaldo Martin.

The suspect however, denies the claims, saying that he was friends with the victims, and he did not rape them. The suspect is now detained in CIDG, facing charges of rape and statutory rape, both non-bailable offenses.

  2. Teach them to say no, especially if they feel that someone is asking them to do something that’s against their will, or if they’re asked to do something that makes them uncomfortable.
  3. Know the signs of abuse so that you can immediately talk to your child and reassure them that everything will be okay, and that you will do everything in your power so that you can protect them.
  4. Talk to your children and share tips on what they can do if they are being threatened by someone, or if they feel threatened due to someone’s actions.
  5. Teach them to trust their instincts. If your child feels uncomfortable or unsafe around a person, they they should make it clear that they do not want to be with that person.
