Michelle Madrigal confirmed speculations that she and her husband Troy Woolfolk have separated. The announcement came after netizens began asking why Troy has not been appearing in the actress’s vlogs and social media posts.
While on a trip to New York, Michelle vlogged about finally being able to do things that made her happy and hinted that she was going through something.
“I’m sure you guys have an idea of what’s going on,” she said.
“It’s pretty apparent. I’m just trying to figure things out from here on now and truly just spending time with Anika and my mom. I haven’t felt this good in along time—just doing me, doing things that would give me genuine happiness. So, there’s that.”
Michelle Madrigal and husband Troy Woolfolk separate
In an Instagram post on August 13, Michelle wrote in a post: “Y’all have been asking us for awhile now…We didn’t have to but we’ve shared our lives with y’all in the past so here we are today.”
“[Troy] and I have been separated and are going through divorce. Of course, we have remained friends and co-parents to our beautiful daughter Anika. We only wanted to share this to be transparent due to the amount of DM’s and comments we get from y’all.”
She adds: “We hope that y’all can give us the space and respect with our decision. We thank y’all for all the love and support you have given The Woolfolk family. We will always have love for each other and cherish the good times rather than the bad ones.”
In a separate Instagram post, Troy posted that both he and Michelle decided that they were “better off as friends.”
“We have separated… So please stop asking. It’s a shame that I even have to make this post but a lot of people have been so dang intrusive in my life and not letting me live so I felt forced to validate something that is really none of their business.”
He added: “We have no drama we are still cool. I will always love [Michelle] because she is the mother of my child that we will co-parent together. I still love everyone in her family and will continue to treat them like my own.”

Finding love
In 2016, after finishing filming a teleserye, Michelle went to the U.S. to study culinary arts and to complete her internship in a hotel restaurant. It was during this time that she met American fitness-trainer Troy via the dating app Tinder.
A year later, the couple welcomed a baby girl, Anika, on October 20, 2017.
On April 12, 2019, Michelle and Troy exchanged vows in an intimate outdoor wedding in Austin, Texas. Present at the event were Michelle’s sister Ehra, mom Kaye, and manager Pia Campos.
“I promise not to lose my silly nature, regardless of how old and wrinkly we get,” vowed Troy. “I promise to always support your night cravings for snacks, no matter how late it is. I promise to remain by your side whether you get thick or thin.”
Michelle jested, “Who would’ve thought that a single swipe would lead us here!”
Addressing Troy, she said in her vows: “Three years ago, I promised that I would be single for a very long time because I was tired of all the heartaches. I was so broken and I wasn’t sure if I could ever love again. I still clearly remember the nights, crying and praying to God to heal me. I know God has always had my back because then I met you.” “I knew you were the right one because I prayed hard for you. You’ve shown me what a real relationship should be like. You make me feel secure in every part of our relationship.”
