What happens when two anchors from two different TV stations meet? They make great news. In the first of the TAP Celebrity series, we posed a few questions to TV Anchors MJ Marfori from TV5, and Oscar Oida, from GMA7 News.
How did you guys meet?
Oscar: It was love at first sight. I saw her when we were covering the same story back in 2010 in Camp Aguinaldo. She was not covering showbiz back then but war stories. I immediately stopped and asked who her reporter friends were, so I can have a “bridge” and get to meet her personally.
Mj: Initially got scared because he was much, much older than me, or more “mature” rather, HAHA! I also caught him staring at me, like it was freaky; he was wearing a leather jacket during daytime! But then again we had a common friend, her name is Andrea and she introduced him to me and we became friends. But Looking back I knew he liked me ha ha.
When did you know s/he was the one?
Oscar: Well it’s such a cliché that we realize how important that person is to us when we are about to lose them, and in our case we had a major fight and I thought that it would be the end of us. I had to win her back again and when I did I told myself that I will never ever do anything that will ever hurt her again and result of me losing her.

What is your favorite thing about your partner / spouse?
Oscar: The most obvious reason is that Mj is beautiful and if you are going to ask anyone who knows me they know that I really have a good taste when it comes to women. (HAHAHA!) But then I realize that she’s more than just a beautiful face. She’s very smart and we clicked in a way that I never clicked with anyone else in my life.
Mj: My favorite thing about Oscar is that he is funny and very sweet. He would also go lengths to show me how much. One time he surprised me by plotting a star which he named after me, thanks to his friends from the Astronomical Society of the Philippines.
What is your least favorite thing about them and how do you reconcile?
Oscar: Hard to appease after a fight! Even though we just fight about food. It’s like I’m back in square one when I gain her forgiveness even though I’m right at times or most of the time.
