Here in the Philippines, tricycles are one of the most common means of transportation. And it’s not uncommon to see entire families riding on tricycles to get to their destination. However, one mother was recently caught on video potentially putting her son’s life at risk by placing him on top of a moving tricycle.
Why did this mom put her son on top of a moving tricycle?
A concerned netizen posted a video on Facebook of a woman who can be seen playing with her son while he is standing on top of a moving tricycle.
If you watch the video closely, you can even see the mother smiling and having fun with her child. It also seems that she’s not at all concerned about him falling off the vehicle.
Watch the video below:
Pretty scary right? Hopefully, the child’s mother won’t do this again, as she’s putting her child at risk.
Safety on the road
The video above highlights the importance of making sure that your children are safe whenever they’re traveling. Whatever form of transportation you use, it’s important to always make your child’s safety a top priority.
Here are some important tips for moms and dads:
- Whenever your child rides inside a car, make sure that they’re safely seated in a car seat. Car seats can be expensive, and they can be a bit of a hassle to set up, but they do save lives.
- If you’re driving, make sure to drive very carefully. It’s better to arrive a bit late, but safe, instead of driving fast and causing an accident.
- Never place your child in the passenger seat. Children should always be seated at the back, with an adult, and ideally inside a car safety seat.
- Make sure to follow the instructions when setting up the car seat. Some seats are designed to be rear-facing and should be attached that way.
- Always teach your children to wear a seatbelt. It’s an important habit that they should start practicing at a very young age.
- Small children shouldn’t be placed on motorcycles. Motorcycles can be dangerous, especially for small children. It’s best to not let them ride at all, even if they have a helmet.
- When riding in any vehicle, make sure your child is seated firmly and safely. Always check if they’re at risk of falling down or falling off the vehicle.
