For the DIY-enthusiasts, here is a highly moisturizing, all-natural, 2-minute recipe from dōTERRA that you can try at home. It features Melaleuca, better known as tea tree oil, which is a natural anti-fungal, anti-infectious antiseptic that keeps the skin clear and glowing.
It also has Lavender, which is highly calming to any inflammation/redness in the skin and is also a natural cleanser. Lavender is great to have around the house as it also helps with rashes, burns, and cuts -- naturally disinfecting the area without damaging healthy cells.
1 cup organic extra virgin coconut oil
1/3 cup organic castile soap
15 drops lavender oil
10 drops melaleuca
5 drops lemon (optional)
Blend or hand whip together and store in an airtight mason jar. This is a "whipped” soap so the consistency won’t be sudsy; making rather a creamy, emollient soap. All of the essential oils added are cleansing on their own, and the castile soap adds the extra cleanse needed, while the coconut oil moisturizes.
