Newborn loses toes after nurse cuts them off accidentally, reports sayNewborn loses toes after nurse cuts them off accidentally, reports say

A newborn has reportedly lost two toes after a nurse cut them off in a freak accident in a Pagadian hospital.

A nurse in a hospital in Pagadian city is facing investigation after accidentally cutting off two of newborn's toes.

The tragic incident happened as the nurse was trying to remove the plaster from the newborn's foot using a pair of scissors.

Reports say that the medical team immediately tried to reattach the toes but were only able to successfully restore one of them.

The newborn's parents are currently considering filing charges against the hospital where the alleged accident occurred.

GMA first broke the news on the primetime news program, 24 Oras. You can watch the full report, below.

Just early this year, a nurse in New Mexico, U.S.A. accidentally cut off a premature newborn's left pinky toe while removing surgical tape. The newborn also struggled with a hole in his heart and had to be intubated.

Because of his condition, he remained in the hospital months after he was born---even when his twin brother had gone home already. Despite attempts by the orthopedic surgeon to reattach his toe, he wasn't able to restore circulation, causing the newborn to completely lose his toe.
