The Breeze EcoProject: Kilos Kabataan para sa Kapaligiran stands out as a beacon of commitment to environmental education, notably through initiatives like Ecollect Planter and Eco Garden. These programs actively engage students in sustainable practices from an early age, fostering a sense of environmental stewardship that will resonate throughout their lives which our planet really needs in these times.
Empowering the Youth, Transforming Communities
The statistics speak volumes about the impact of this eco-centric initiative. With 59 schools actively participating, over 720 teachers took part in the training that was initiated exclusively for Quezon City, and an astounding 133,356 students actively engaged, the Breeze EcoProject is leaving an indelible mark on the educational landscape, and furthermore to the community.
Meet the Eco-Warriors: Christine and Jean
Christine, an 11-year-old Grade 6 student from Pateros Elementary School, shares her firsthand experience in the Breeze EcoProject. "I participated in our Ecollect, making eco-bricks, and designing the school's Eco Christmas corner," says Christine.
Christine reflects on the crucial lessons she learned about the planet. "Taking care of our planet is essential to prevent pollution. We must reduce habits like throwing garbage anywhere, burning waste, and actively contribute to making the planet healthier by planting trees and maintaining cleanliness."
"As a young person, I can contribute by undertaking more eco-friendly projects, ensuring our community stays clean, and adopting habits that contribute to saving our planet," adds Christine. She hopes her actions inspire other young children to join the cause and actively participate in preserving our environment.
Jean, another 11-year-old student from Pateros Elementary School, participated in projects like Ecollect and the submission of eco-bricks. "The EcoProject involves collecting recyclables to help reduce waste in our community," Jean explains. "The Eco Garden and Eco Christmas Corner missions, where students created bricks from recycled water bottles for our school's eco-garden and eco corner, enhance our school's beauty while reducing waste."
The Impact on Daily Life
Christine shares how her experience with the Eco Christmas Corner and Eco Garden initiatives influenced her daily life. "It influenced me to recycle more because EcoProject missions made me realize that recycling is a better way to make the environment prettier and healthier."
For Jean, the experience was equally positive. "My experiences were great, and it influenced me to recycle more. The projects are beautiful, and I'm happy to see part of it in my place. It's such a great idea, and I hope many people are inspired by it."
Shaping Future Environmental Stewards
Initiatives like Eco Christmas Corner and Eco Garden play a pivotal role in shaping the mindset of future environmental stewards. Christine notes, “I think that we should do the five R's to help all of us have a brighter future. It also influences me to share these beautiful things that began due to other people so our community will have a better future."

As a teacher in Pateros Elementary School, Ma'am Josefa remarks, “These programs provide us educators more opportunities to impart environmental education and foster a commitment to sustainability among students. The value of love and concern for the environment, as well as the value of resourcefulness and creativity, are being inculcated among them. Our students have the opportunity to participate in and be partners in these projects.”
As a Grade 3 teacher, Ma'am Irene agrees, "This program serves as an instrument or means for environmental awareness, inspiring students to protect the environment and develop positive attitudes about saving our environment by starting recycling projects."

Hands-on experiences provided by Eco Christmas Corner and Eco Garden have transformed students' attitudes toward the environment. "Engaging in these hands-on activities," says Ma'am Josefa, "our students develop greater environmental awareness, resourcefulness, and creativity."
The positive changes in students' attitudes are evident. "Hands-on learning allows students the opportunity to apply their own knowledge through their experiences," Ma'am Irene explains. "This environmental awareness develops positive changes in their attitudes, their willingness to participate in saving the environment by this we are nurturing the environment with our children or students.”
