“For me, it was, I’m so happy that I have this one baby, but I lost two,” said Kellee. “I just kept imagining these three little kiddos.”
Mrs Briggs marks the moment as one most heartbreaking experiences in her life. According to her, she keeps wondering what her two kids would be like if they survived.
“Would they be girls? Boys? I just didn’t know. It was heartbreaking to think about the what would be and also being happy about the what is,” she added.
Despite the pain, Mrs Briggs chose to focus on the baby that survived. Months after the couple’s heartbreaking experience, the Briggs couple welcomed their first son, Chase.

Things You Should Know About Pregnancy With Triplets
Almost every woman looks forward to getting pregnant, becoming a mum, and growing their own family. In most cases, women do not expect to see three tiny fetuses on their ultrasound.
For many parents, getting pregnant with triplets could be very amusing and exciting. If you see three tiny fetuses on your ultrasound, here are a few things you need to know about triplet pregnancy from WebMD.
Factors That Increase Chances of Getting Pregnant With More Than One Baby
Pregnancies with more than one baby occur in approximately three in 100 births. Experts often called them multiples if a woman is pregnant with twins or more infants
If more than one egg is fertilised and implants in the uterus, your multiples are fraternal. Meanwhile, you will have identical multiples if one egg is fertilised and splits before implanting in the uterine lining.
Below are some factors that usually cause a soon-to-be mum’s chances of having multiple pregnancies.
- Previous multiple pregnancies
- Ovulation-stimulation medicine
- In vitro fertilisation (IVF)
Risks Associated With Triplet Pregnancies
Most mums often fear being pregnant with more than one baby. Because of its rareness, multiple pregnancies come with several risks for both the mum and the babies. Below is a list of dangers related to these type of births.
- Newborn complications
- Premature birth – the greatest risk of carrying triplets is when the babies are born prematurely.
- Delivery – many triplet pregnancies end in a cesarean section for the safety of both the mother and the babies. Meanwhile, the probability of a vaginal delivery depends on each baby’s size, position, and health.
- Placenta – it may provide imbalanced nutrients to each baby.
- Preeclampsia – when the woman’s blood pressure gets too high during pregnancy, it puts them at risk for seizures. Symptoms include high blood pressure, protein in the urine, swelling, headaches, changes in vision, nausea, abdominal pain, and trouble breathing.
- Gestational Diabetes – gestational diabetes is very common in women with triplet pregnancies.
