Soon enough, Summer will end and enrollment will be just right around the corner. Enrolling our children to the best school is our duty as parents because we want to ensure that they grow into loving and well-educated children.
The first step is preschool
As part of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) K to 12 program, all children in the country are required to undergo a year in kindergarten before they can enter grade 1 or the elementary program.
Studies show that children who go to preschool are better equipped and can adjust better when they start primary school.
The minimum age requirement for kindergarten or kinder is 5 years old, however, some parents prefer to enroll their children to pre-kindergarten or pre-K (also called nursery) as early as age 3.
In Kinder, students learn about the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors through games, songs, and dances. It’s also in preschool where they hone their motor, cognitive and social skills.
Requirements for preschool
If you plan on enrolling your child in preschool this coming school year, here are some of the documents you need to prepare:
- Birth Certificate (both original and clear photocopy)
- Baptismal Certificate (clear photocopy)
- Parents’ Marriage Contract (clear photocopy)
- Pictures (size: 1×1) for the IDs
- Parents’ photocopy of 2 Valid IDs
- Accomplished application form from the school
