Neri Naig just can’t wait to fix up her dream cottage!
The pregnant actress and wife of Chito Miranda has been sharing photos of her next big project–renovating and decorating an old cottage in Tagaytay.
“Ready na ang cottage ko! (My cottage is ready!),” a jubilant Neri announced on Instagram with a photo of the cottage’s double doors.

Neri, who is currently taking it easy due to her delicate pregnancy, also thanked her husband for being very hands-on in the renovation of the cottage even when he was tired from work and trips.

While she can’t be too physically involved in fixing up the place just yet, Neri finds it relaxing to dream about decorating the simple cottage–that and listening to Barbra Streisand.
“Kagabi medyo sumakit yung tummy ko kaya nag patugtog ako ng Barbra Streisand para marelax tapos kunware inaayos ko yung cottage sa isip ko,” Neri revealed in another Instagram post.
(Last night, my tummy got a bit painful so I played some Barbra Streisand music to relax, and pretended I was fixing up the cottage.)

Work on the old cottage
The couple, particularly Chito, put a lot of work into improving the cottage. Because the cottage was old when Neri and Chito bought it, major renovation had to be done on the place.
Here’s a photo of the place prior to renovation:

For starters, Chito carried out Neri’s request for a predominantly white cottage (except for the doors).

Chito also saw to it that more windows were installed to let more light in.

Interior design plans
“I can’t wait to fix this little cottage and create more magical moments with my husband, family, and friends,” Neri captioned an Instagram photo, which she shared with the hashtag #neriscottage.
Neri plans to set-up a cozy breakfast nook by a big window for a pleasant view of the garden.

Prior to renovation, the cottage had two rooms on the second floor. The upper floor has since been turned into a loft for more open space. Here’s a photo showing an area of the loft where Neri plans to put a white or pale yellow sofa, and a floor lamp:

The ever-practical Neri wants to keep the furniture minimal–simple, practical, with not much clutter to allow for easier cleaning.
The loft, she said, will have mattresses on the floor reminiscent of Japanese beds. She also wants to have a turntable in the cottage and is in fact, currently scouting for one that is reasonably priced or “yung mura lang”.
The cottage, which will have a French country style vibe to it, will of course feature a rustic dining set courtesy of Neri’s brother-in-law. A hammock and rocking chairs are also a must for Neri’s little country cottage.
Neri has promised to share photos of her furniture once they arrive.

Busy bee Neri
Neri is thinking about opening the cottage as a business center on weekends, sort of like a weekend market, where she wants to sell her gourmet tuyo, homemade cookies and other desserts, barbecue, fishball, Parokya shirts, sandwiches, peri-peri chicken with pasta, Chito’s fave salad, and whatever else she cooks up for the day.
Dining tables and chairs will also be set up in the garden for a laid back ambiance.
For her artistic guests, Neri also plans to turn scrap pieces of wood into easels for guests to use should they wish to paint in the cottage.
Neri’s garden
Aside from the cottage, Chito and Neri have also been busy with their mini-garden.
The garden already has herbs, such as basil, dill, and rosemary. There are papaya trees and a rambutan tree, which Neri was pleased to announce is already bearing fruits. The couple also recently harvested some strawberries.
Here are a few photos of their garden:

Chito himself worked on the enclosure for the herb garden.

It looks like Neri is getting lots of practice in preparation for her biggest project yet–Neri’s farm! According to her, having a farm has been her lifelong dream.
Kahit ako parang natuwa sa mga balak ng asawa ko! Hehe! Parang na-excite ako tumambay dun.???? Excited na ko makita kung ano gagawin nya sa binili nyang bahay. One thing that I admire most about my wife is that when she sets her mind on something, she works hard for it. She doesn’t wait for things to fall into her lap. She would never ask me for money, but instead would find ways to earn it herself. At tulad nito, may bago na naman syang project. Hahaha! Hahayaan ko nalang sya gawin kung ano man ang balak nya kasi sigurado ako, kung ano man ang gawin nya, I’m sure it will be awesome. #Repost @little_lulu___ ・・・ Naisip ko lang, what if buksan ko yung cottage ko sa public paminsan minsan? Yung parang ‘weekend market’ pero hindi every weekend? Yung pag maisipan ko lang, hehe! Magbebenta ako ng gourmet tuyo, cookies, desserts, bbq, fishballs, parokya shirts, sandwich, periperi chicken with pasta, yung paboritong salad ni Chito, o kahit anong maisipan kong lutuin that day.

Basta masipag ka, walang impossible,” she said.
(I know that it’s not impossible [to have a farm] because I am saving up for it. As long as one works hard, nothing is impossible.)
