Rent-a-mom service now available

Rent-a-mom service now available

Nina Keneally wants to be the mom without the baggage (and the housework, apparently). Read below how this woman is offering a unique service that some people already have--but without all the trappings that come with it.

You can now rent a mom?!

In New Your City, we find Nina Keneally, a 63-year-old woman who is renting herself out as a professional mother.

Her target market is the current generation of millennials, who want all the benefits of having a mother without the nagging and interfering.

Nina stresses that her service, NeedAMom, is not a maid service, a cleaning service or anything of the sort.

The tagline on her business page says, “When you need a mom…just not your Mom.”

NeedAMom’s services

So if she’s not going to do clean or handle smaller children, what will Nina do for you?

Here’s a list of her services:

  • Listen to you over coffee, hot chocolate or wine
  • Edit your documents and even review your CV
  • Iron your shirt for a job interview
  • Watch a movie with you when you don’t want to be alone
  • Make food that you really love
  • Get presents for your real mom and even wrap them for you.

Nina stresses, though, that she isn’t a professional therapist or counselor, just someone who will give out Mom advice and emotional support to people without all the expectations of your actual mother.

Take a look at NeedaMom’s video:

How much does it cost?

Nina says she charges based by the hour, but knowing what her ‘children’ need first will help her charge them properly.

She’s had six clients, so far, with one of them paying her roughly $40 or Php1600 to sit with her for coffee every week.

What made her do this?

According to Nina, millennials have always reached out to her and she decided that she had a knack for mother-ing these 20-somethings. So she decided to create this unique service.

Nina is a Tony award-winning producer and has been a director, mother and manager.

What do you think, mommies? Should we start renting ourselves out?
