With Father’s Day just around the corner (it’s on June 19 this year), let’s be inspired by one celebrity dad who has been leaving notes for his son. Ryan Agoncillo posts Instragram messages for Lucho using the hashtag #storiesforlucho.

Let’s take a look at some of them and be inspired to start our own compilation!

Words of wisdom

The first post was made last March 2014 when Lucho was about 3.5 years old. Ryan re-posted a photo taken by @tjisla that shows him kissing Juday after finishing the Xterra Lite triathlon race.

The caption reads, “I want to tell you about the struggle, the times I nearly quit, and the moment you question it all. But first, let me tell you how I got the girl…”

He didn’t actually say how he “got Juday” but he did share some advice in subsequent posts:

  • “Son, the secret to a happy marriage is the first step: choosing your bride.”
  • “Never go for the girl of your dreams, go for the one who makes your dreams come true.”
  • “Sleep early and wake up to see amazing things.”
  • “There will be times, you won’t be the best, but always be the hardest working man in the room. Always.”

Pogi (Handsome) lessons

Ryan has also been teaching Lucho the importance of being handsome inside and out. Other posts feature them putting on hair gel and wearing matching suits for New Year’s Eve.

Mundane and memorable moments

Ryan also documented how he and his son spend time together. “Boys night out is the best!” declared Lucho.

What are Fridays and Sundays with the Agoncillo boys like? Geeky and cool! Biking, discovering hermit crabs, pretending to be Harry Potter, and playing with an app-controlled BB-8 are just some of the things they have done together.

These posts send a clear message that father-son times are moments they both treasure and enjoy.

Most recently, he shared why he and Juday decided to renew their marriage vows on their 7th anniversary (Note: it had nothing to do with rocky marriage rumors and everything to do with Lucho):

Like most kids who watch their parents’ wedding video, the 5-year old asked where he was when they got married.

Dad pride

Aside from photos, Ryan also screen-captured his proud-to-be-dad notes. This one was dated May 4, 2015:

“Whenever my son wakes up in the middle of the night and starts looking around in panic then crawls to my kili-kili (underarm) and sleeps there, nothing makes me feel more badass.”

Dads are definitely the best defensive weapons. Here is another one:

So, we are at the mall and my 4 year old son holds up his two hands like he wants to be carried. I hold out my hands to pick him up, then he just grabs my hands and runs up my legs, up my tummy and chest and does a backflip while still holding on. My jaw dropped and I just yelled.
Me: Oh wow! That’s awesome!
Lucho: You like it when I do that?!
Me: Yeah, that’s so cool.
Lucho: You’re proud of me?
Me: Yes of course!
Lucho: Thank you!

If you agree that Lucho will appreciate reading through all of these posts when he’s older, why not start leaving messages for your own kids?

Instagram is not the only way to do it. you can just use a notebook or create an email address for each child and send your photos and thoughts there. It’s never too late or too early to start.
