Sleep, or sex? Which one would you choose?

3 min read

For a lot of new parents, it’s hard to find time between feeding your newborn, putting your newborn to sleep, and trying to stop them from crying.

That’s why whenever new parents find time for themselves, they have another important decision to make. Should they take it as a moment to rest, or should they choose to have sex instead, to spice up their married life?

We tried asking parents through our Parenttown app to find out what Filipino parents thought, but, their choices were split evenly. So, here’s our take on the age-old question.

Would you choose sex?

Did you know that the intimacy between couples significantly declines after they have kids? Even for couples who are very romantic, and love having intimate moments with each other, their sex life takes a hit after having kids, because frankly, it’s hard to find time when you have a lot of responsibilities that you need to do.

That’s why some moms and dads would choose to have sex instead of sleeping whenever they can find time for themselves. Sex is pretty important in a marriage, since it helps maintain the intimacy between moms and dads, and it’s a way for them to express their love for each other

Or would you choose sleep?

On the other hand, sleep is also very important for parents, especially for those who have to go to work in the morning.

Sleep helps your body rest, and gets you ready for another day of working and taking care of your kid. And honestly, sleeping after a long day of taking care of your kid is just the best.

Plus, having sex can be difficult if you’re pretty tired, so most parents would instead opt to just sleep.

So, what’s the verdict?

At the end of the day, it really is up to you and your spouse on whether or not you’ll choose to have sex, or sleep whenever you have the time.

A healthy balance is important, so you and your spouse both need to find time for sleep, and time for intimacy. There might be moments when your child is asleep, and the both of you aren’t too tired. In those cases, it’s good if you can have sex so that you’ll keep the fire of your romance burning.

On the other hand, sleep is also very important, especially if the both of you aren’t getting enough hours of sleep in the day. Ideally, you should sleep uninterrupted for about 7-8 hours in order for your body to fully rest and recover. That way, you’ll wake up refreshed.

Either way, the important thing to remember is that both sex and sleep are important in a marriage. Having a healthy balance between the two is the best.
