To officially ring in the school year and assist students in adapting to new ways of learning in these unprecedented times, mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. has launched Smart University at smartuniversity2020.com; a virtual campus that offers exciting and engaging activities that are especially designed for students who don’t want to miss out on an enriching school experience.
Exclusive to Smart subscribers, Smart University features a virtual campus where students can learn, interact, and engage with each other, educational talks by experts from Google and Microsoft, quiz shows with exciting prizes, and other activities worth hanging around for.
The highlight of the unique program will be streamed live on Smart’s Facebook page and smartuniversity2020.com:
Episode 1 – THE PEP RALLY, to be held on Sept. 12, features movers in the tech industry including Yvette Watson, Microsoft Modern Workplace Business Group Lead and Victor Lam, Google for Education Lead, Southeast Asia.
Episode 2 – MIDTERMS, on Sept. 26, features YouTube educreator and motivational speaker Lyqa Maravilla who will join the fun with some quiz show and e-games.
Episode 3 – FINALS, on Oct. 10, the culminating event, features more quiz shows, a special performance from pop alternative band “Over October”, and the awarding of class topnotchers.
Earn points for a cause
Aside from learning, students may also participate in the activities in every episode to earn and accumulate points to be part of the Smart University Leaderboard.
Upon reaching 30,000 points at the end of the third episode, the whole class will be able to donate 3 School-in-a-Bag units, which each consists of 1 laptop, 1 Pocket WiFi and 20 tablets to PLDT-Smart Foundation’s beneficiary schools. This way, participants are empowered to uplift and help the less fortunate students. Special prizes await class topnotchers, too!
The Smart University Virtual Campus 2020 is in line with the thrust of the mobile services provider to champion the youth — from helping bridge the learning gap the new normal has brought to aiding students with the knowledge and tools to realize their academic potentials. Recently, Smart introduced Giga Study, a data pack that enables subscribers to access a host of learning and productivity apps. Smart has also partnered with Edukasyon.PH, an education technology start-up that provides a series of programs and software apps to enable Filipino students reach their academic goals.
