Chilling video shows father saving his son from falling off a rollercoaster

Chilling video shows father saving his son from falling off a rollercoaster

“Our seatbelt came apart on the Mousetrap and Kaysen slid to the bottom of the floor board and I had to grab him and pull him back up and hold him for the rest of the ride.”

There’s a reason why many people hate the rollercoaster. Aside for suffering vertigo and spilling, quite literally, your guts out, there’s always the possibility of falling and plummeting into the hard ground below.

That’s what almost happened to Delbert Latham’s son at a Texan amusement park.

According to Delbert, his son’s seatbelt came unhinged mid-ride.

Thankfully, his quick-thinking saved his son from the deadly outcome by pinning him against the seat for the rest of the ride.

“Our seatbelt came apart on the Mousetrap and Kaysen slid to the bottom of the floor board and I had to grab him and pull him back up and hold him for the rest of the ride,” he said on his Facebook post.

Scarier still was the fact that the staff knew about the malfunction and still operated the ride.

“When I told the guy at the end of the ride he stated that he knew that had happened sometimes,” he said.

After the video quickly spread online, the company running the amusement park issued a statement, assuring the public that the car containing the broken belt was removed, and the ride was fixed by Saturday.

“Wonderland immediately reached back out to Mr. Latham the evening it happened and promptly removed the back cart from the ride and ensured all other seatbelts were in proper working order. The Mouse Trap was back in full operation on Saturday,” the company said in a statement.

In a Mashable report, it said that the Wonderland ride hadn’t been originally built with any seat belts at all.

“This particular ride was originally built without seatbelts, but Wonderland later added belts as an extra safety measure.”
