Nashville, Tennessee – Ben Ellis, a schoolteacher that has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer was surprised when over 400 students as well as faculty members from the Christ Presbyterian Academy visited him in his home and serenaded him with a gospel song.
Ellis has been undergoing intensive treatment for his cancer, but when his doctors reported that the cancer has infected his lungs, his family decided to discontinue the treatment.
When the news about his decision spread in the community, students and faculty wanted to express their love and support for Ellis, who according to the school headmaster Nate Morrow, “was a gift to us all in the most unassuming and life-giving way.” He adds, “Even in the process of his death, he selflessly encouraged and empowered individuals to find life in Jesus. Now Ben and his Lord are fully together, yet his family and his students remain and we grieve deeply.”
Sadly, Ellis has passed away last September 17th, 2016. He leaves behind a wife as well as five children.
