5 Summer workshops for kids that teach the value of passion and hard work

This summer 2017, encourage your kids to work hard and pursue their passions at a young age with these fun and enriching summer workshops!

Bestselling author Dave Cruze writes in his book Smart Money, Smart Kids, that many parents are so focused on giving kids what they want that they’ve lost sight of what they need. Teaching kids to work hard for what they want at a young age gives them “dignity in a job well done today and the tools and character to win in the future as adults.”

Learning this doesn’t have to be tedious and the process doesn’t have to be confined within the walls of a traditional classroom. This summer, make learning to love work feel less like…well, work, with these fun summer workshops for kids!

1. Mcdonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop

It’s the 25th year of Mcdonald’s kiddie crew workshop! This 5-day workshop program allows kids to experience art workshops, on-the-floor training, and tons of other group activities. Through this, kids are taught the value of hard work as well as discipline, responsibility, and teamwork.

This fun workshop is open to all kids aged 6 to 12! You can register in all participating McDonald’s stores until May 27, 2016.

The registration fee is P650.00 (this includes a shirt, cap, bag, apron, CD, artwork materials, pins/badges at the end of every activity, certificate and meals for 5 days)

For more information about the workshop’s activities, visit their website.

2. Junior Barista Workshop

For burgeoning coffee lovers, why not enrol them in the Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia’s junior barista workshop? Crafted for kids aged 10 to 16 years old, this unique, 2-day workshop involves creating both coffee-based and non-coffee based ingredients. The easy recipes will be tailored to suit family occasions and small gatherings so kids can show off their skills and treat their loved ones to hot and cold drinks!

Kids will also learn how to make non-alcoholic drinks. (The grown-ups will have to make their own at the next family gathering, if they want alcohol!)

The program fee is P4,500 and it includes lessons on coffee history, how to make espresso, proper milk steaming, and special etching sessions.

The final batch of lessons will be taught on May 29 to 30 (9:30 to 3:30 p.m.) You can fill out the application form, here.
